awareness is important
awareness is important
“I already knew about the existence of the cervical cancer population screening, but I never really talked about it. In my group of friends I have now two friends where abnormal cells have been found. I am aware of the impact this has, it’s not ‘out of sight, out of mind’, which is why I am taking part. Why not do it? Your health is your most valuable possession. Raising awareness about this issue is important. You don’t want to get sick, do you? When we hear the word cancer, we tend to think of older people, not people our age, even though anyone can have HPV. Many women may not know that they are at risk, especially at a younger age. Even if, like me, you did have the HPV vaccination. I will have a smear test done at my GP’s. That this can be a tense experience is no reason not to have it done. I just think: Well, at least you’ve had that experience and now you know how it works for the next time. It means stepping out of your comfort zone, but then you have something to add to your list of experiences.
